Dear colleagues,
As you may know I have moved to the Research Centre of the CHU Ste-Justine in Sept 1st 08. Our research institute has just launched a competition for a post-doctoral position valued at $50,000 Can for 3 years with research funds of $15,000

I would be happy to supervise a post-doctoral student interested in working in the field of childhood asthma. Our laboratory has specific expertise and interest in the following themes and methodologies.

1. Management of acute asthma in the emergency setting (secondary data analyses and RCT)
2. New modalities for assessing asthma control and its impact on appropriateness of health care professional management (secondary data analyses, RCT)
3. Self-management plan for asthma: impact on physician’s prescribing and patients’ adherence (secondary data analyses and RCT)
4. Role of pharmacist in asthma management (RCT)
5. Therapeutic approaches in viral-induced asthma (systematic review and RCT)
6. Step-up home therapy during exacerbations (systematic review and RCT)
7. Selecting the best monotherapy for children (anti-inflammatory potency vs. adherence) - (secondary data analyses)
8. Step-up therapies (secondary data analyses)
9. Asthma severity and response to treatment in children with exposure to tobacco smoke - (prospective cohort study and secondary data analyses)
10. Improving physician’s adherence to acute asthma guidelines (secondary data analyses, focus groups, and RCT)
11. Improving patient adherence to recommendations (secondary data analyses, focus groups, and RCT)

Methodology:

2. Randomized controlled trials
3. Secondary analyses of large research and clinical databases of asthmatic children
4. Focus groups
5. Cohorts
